How to travel to Cyprus

Paphos Airport

Air Travel to Cyprus

Cyprus travel with flights to Cyprus takes approximately 4-5 hours and you arrive at either Larnaca (main international airport on the island) or Paphos International Airport.

There are many direct flights to both Larnaca and Paphos airports from Europe so if you're coming from far away it's easy to find a connection.

Flights to Cyprus

Many visitors to Cyprus book their flights and accommodation themselves as there are many excellent deals on cheap flights to Cyprus.

If you also find a cheap hotel you can have an excellent cheap holiday in Cyprus. With many low cost airlines such as Easy Jet and Monarch offering cheap flights to Larnaca and to Paphos, you can often find a great bargain. You can also find special deals from Cyprus Airways and Travel Republic for flights to Cyprus.

transport in cyprus

Cyprus Transport

Travel in Cyprus with Cyprus Transport - Public transport in Cyprus is virtually non-existent in the evenings and on Sundays. There are no trains in Cyprus so the only way to travel is by using local buses, taxis or service-taxis.

Driving in Cyprus

It's a good idea to hire a car online and then all you have to do is collect the car from the airport when you arrive. If you don't have time there are many cheap car hire Cyprus companies to rent a car from. Driving is on the left as in the UK and having a car makes life so much easier for your holiday in Cyprus. No problem with getting a taxi or taking the bus and as transport in Cyprus stops very early in the day,

Cyprus Travel - Ferries to Cyprus

Since 2001, there are no longer any passenger ferries to Cyprus but you can still send vehicles unaccompanied. There are of course many cruises from Cyprus to Greece, the Greek Islands, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria.

Cyprus Travel - Entering Cyprus

If your visit to Cyprus is less than 3 months a valid passport is required and EU nationals can also enter Cyprus with a valid ID Card. Visas are NOT required for passport holders from the EU, USA, Australia and Canada.

Greek Language

Cyprus was for many years a British Colony, consequently many Cypriots speak English as well as Greek which does help with your travel in Cyprus. However, if you travel to the lovely inland villages not many people speak English so it's a good idea to learn a few words of Greek before you arrive or take a Greek phrase book with you.

Cyprus Weather

If you like the heat then you'll love the Cyprus climate which has long hot summers. However, if you prefer it a little cooler then the best time to visit Cyprus is during the months of May and September. The summer months are very hot with temperatures soaring to 40 C in July and August.
