Wedding Formalities

You must both be in Cyprus for 5 working days before the wedding can take place. An ideal situation is to come to Cyprus for 2 or 3 weeks.

Arrange everything in the first week. By this time you should have a great tan and then you have the second (and third week?) for the wedding and honeymoon.

To be married in Cyprus you must apply to the Marriage Officer in the district you wish to get married and provide Passports, Birth Certificates, Decree Absolute if divorced, Death Certificate if Widow/er and Affidavit.

To renew wedding vows just bring your original wedding certificate. It will cost the same as a church wedding but no marriage license or affidavits are required.

The wedding ceremony can take place in the local Town Hall, local church or in a hotel in Cyprus. Many hotels have their own private chapel overlooking the sea.
