One of the best times to visit Cyprus is during the Spring when the island is full of flowers and you can enjoy discovering the island.


FESTIVALS in March, April and May

27 March 2010 - Procession of St Lazarus

Ayios Lazarus St Lazarus is the patron saint of Larnaka and every year his feast day is celebrated with a service and procession which takes place at Agios Lazaros in Larnaka.


The icon of Saint Lazarus is taken from the Church of St Lazarus through the streets. Lazarus brought Christianity to ancient Kition (Larnaka) and he was later ordained Bishop of Kition, first Christian Archbishop by Saint Barnabas and Saint Paul. Every year the resurrection of Lazarus is re-enacted by children in St Lazarus's Church in Plateia Ayiou Lazarou.


4 APRIL - Greek Easter in Cyprus

It's wonderful to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and take a romantic break or family holiday at this time of the year to Cyprus.


You can relax and unwind, step back in time and discover the playground of the Greek Goddess Aphrodite.


Hire a car and enjoy the the stunning coastline and visit the lovely cities and towns of Pafos, Larnaca, Limassol and Agia Napa.


Travel inland and discover the amazing Byzantine churches and wine producing villages around Limassal and Paphos and the stunning mountains of the Troodos massif or lovely villages such as Kalavasos which are just a few miles inland from Larnaca.


Flaounes Cyprus Flaounes are traditional Cyprus Easter Breads and Tsoureki is a Greek Easter bread enjoyed in both countries. They are both delicious and decorated with dyed red hard boiled eggs.


You can find flaounes and tsoureki in the local bakers and supermarkets or you can bake them at home.

MAY - Anthestiria - Flower Festival

In Greek the word for flower is anthos and during the month of May, Anthestiria (flower festival) is celebrated in the towns, cities and villages of Cyprus.

The celebrations in Paphos are from 15 - 16 May 2010 with a parade of flower-filled floats along Poseidon Avenue to the old harbour at Kato Paphos. On 9 May 2010, Larnaka's famous Phinikoudes promenade is the place to go to celebrate this annual festival and also in May Limassol will hold celebrations along the tourist area.


MAY - Limassol Street Life Festival

During May Limassol also celebrates the annual Street Life Festival in the lovely old historical town which is enjoyed by old and young. Painting, graffiti, music and breakdancing and much more - Street-Life-Festival
