Protaras Cyprus Beaches
Situated just a ten minute drive from the lively resort of Ayia Napa, Protaras has some of the best beaches on the island such as the popular Fig Tree Bay.
Many of the beaches have been awarded the blue flag status and most are blessed with golden sand edged by the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean sea.
The rocky coast of Cape Greco is at the southeast tip of the island and some of this area is controlled by the military so out of bounds to tourists. This is a very beautiful and peaceful area of the island and ideal for those who enjoy snorkling and swimming.

Things to do in Protaras
There are a wide range of shops, nightclubs, restaurants and bars, so there’s definitely something for all the family to enjoy.
To the north of Protaras are the towns of Paralimni and Pernera.
- Paralimni is famous for the three churches in the center of town and the church of the Panayia (Virgin Mary) contains an ecclesiastical museum.
- Penera is more peaceful location great for those who enjoy swimming and a more relaxing holiday in the sun.
To the south are many villages such as Ayia Thekla which is famous for the church of the same name.
A little further south is Kapparis which is on the border of Turkish controlled Cyprus.
