St Georges PAPHOS

Ayios Georgios Pafos

island of geronisos paphos

St Georges Paphos - A short distance from the village of Pegeia (pronounced Peyia) is the small fishing village of Ayios Georgios.

Of archaeological interest are the nearby remains of an ancient Basilica with floor mosaics still visible. The church of Agios Georgios overlooks the beach where you can enjoy water sports such as snorkelling and scuba-diving.

St Georges HarbourThere's a lovely little harbour and the local family-run fish restaurants are well worth a visit.

The popular St Georges fish restaurant gets packed on Sundays with the locals and tourists enjoying fresh barbouni (red mullet), calamari and various other fish and meat dishes... delicious chips and the freshest of salads.

If the restaurant is full you can dine 'al fresco' on the lovely terrace, under the vines, overlooking the sparkling blue Mediterranean sea.

St George's Fish RestaurantA little further back along the cliffs and facing the unusual Island of Geronisos are the natural rock sea caves which are nearby in St George's Bay.

Just a few minutes drive away is the popular Coral Bay and a little further to the north is the stunning nature reserve of the Akamas Peninsula.
