Public Pay-Phones in Cyprus

As in most countries Cyprus has two types of public pay-phones:

Coin-operated payphones accept coins of 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent denominations.

Card-phones: Public phones accept Telecards - T3, T5 and T10 which can be purchased from post offices, kiosks, banks and other shops.

International Mobile Phone

If you're using an international mobile phone then the cheapest way to receive and make telephone calls when in Cyprus is by using a Cyprus SIM card.

ALL incoming calls are FREE regardless of where they originate.

You pay the local rate for local calls and use a mobile phone in Cyprus like you do at home.The SIM card is prepaid so there are no monthly fees and no need for a contract.

Just make sure that your phone is Sim Free and not locked by your current service provider. (Normally costs around £10 in England to unlock it).

Activating Account
Your Cyprus SIM card will provide you with a local Cyprus mobile phone number which begins with 357. All you have to do is insert the SIM card into your GSM phone (when you're in Cyprus!), turn on the phone and of you go!

To add credit to your SIM card just purchase a recharge voucher from kiosks (periptero), tobacco shops, convenience stores, petrol stations or post offices.
