Weather in Cyprus
The weather in Cyprus is blessed with mild winters and long hot summers...
Spring One of the best times to visit Cyprus is during the Spring. The island is covered with wild flowers and the scent of blossoms and flowers fills the air. Long hot sunny days but not too hot to stop you from exploring and discoving the natural beauty of this magical little island. The mountainous pine studded Troodos mountains and the Akamas Peninsula are perfect for nature rambles, cycing and hiking.
Summer During the summer, Nicosia can be unbearably hot and dry and this is the time when many Cypriot families vacate their city homes and head for cooler places. People pile into cars, or whatever means of transport they have, and head for the cooler, fresher air of the Troödos mountains or the beaches around Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos.
Autumn The Autumn months of September, October and November are lovely. The leaves are changing to red and gold and yet it's still hot enough during the day to go for a swim. Nights are colder but it doesn't really get that cold and many people just wear a light jacket.
Winter During the winter months of December and January the temperature by the sea is very mild and there's often a little rain. In January (one of the coldest months), you can expect average temperatures to be around 18 - 19 C during the day but nights can be a little chilly. From January to March the mountains are covered with snow for up to four or five months and during March it's possible to ski during the morning and swim in the afternoon.
